conceptual design

Architecture, conceptual design and process automation

The first aspect to be considered is to relate the architecture of a given reality with its conceptual engineering. Conceptual engineering defines a problem’s architecture. To do so it is necessary to structure the ontology of that reality.

Architecture is used to define the concepts of a reality materializing them as solutions, within the possibilities of existing knowledge.

Redesigning the automation of a process implies restructuring its functionality in terms of effectiveness.

Effectiveness = Efficiency*Efficacy*Automation

The concept of effectiveness was discovered at the beginning of the seventies.

The first approach to effectiveness was adding efficiency plus efficacy to achieve the best possible result.

It was an empirical solution developing work processes optimizing the efficiency of the systems and the efficacy of humans.

In those times people were trained to develop the necessary skills to manage the working processes.

The results of this theory were inconsistent. “Change resistance” was the natural explanation for inadequate results.

The research of effectiveness, considered as a complex system, showed that its components should not be added, but integrated. Integration means conjunction. Conjunction, in mathematical terms, means multiplication.

This was the first approach to ontological analysis of working processes, integrating its three components, considered in those times as variables, which at the end were defined as the functions of a concept.

Analyzing a working process from an ontological point of view implies recognizing a different reality of workflow. It is much more flexible and offers much more possibilities than the empirical addition of efficacy + efficiency.

Unicist Org Lab: Unicist Continuous Improvement Alliances

Unicist Continuous Improvement is based on the use of objects. It implies improving the objects included in processes in order to obtain results.

Continuous improvement integrates innovation to improve the processes and the objects that are being used to ensure the achievement of a higher level of effectiveness.

The natural segments of continuous improvement are:

1) Repair
2) Update
3) Upgrade
4) Renewal

Maximal strategies are driven by innovation. They are put into action by the implementation of big changes that go beyond the existing boundaries of the present operation and are sustained by the external need represented by the client centered management.

Free access to the discovery of the Unicist Ontology of Innovation at: https://www.unicist.org/conceptual-thinking/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/ontology_innovation_en.pdf

Minimum strategies are driven by quality assurance, put into action by the development and implementation of medium changes and sustained by the personalized organization that ensures an effective participative action model.

The Unicist Fundamentals of Mozilla

A navigator is the person on board of a ship or aircraft responsible for its navigation. The navigator is not the captain, but provides the information to the captain in order to make adequate decisions. Therefore, the navigator’s primary responsibility is to be aware of the ship or aircraft’s position at all times.

A Navigator on the Internet is an object that substitutes the individual that navigates a ship or airplane to position the user in the World Wide Web.

In business there are many activities that are homologous to navigators:

-Market Research
-Strategic Positioning
-Diagnosing
-Scenario Building
-Information Technology, etc.

In order to benchmark Mozilla’s experience we would consider that it is a way to navigate the Internet providing alternatives to the “captain” in order to use the platform as a tool to develop the activity s/he has planned.

The Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) is simpler. It provides basically a rigid navigation platform to ensure that individuals can access information. IE doesn’t pretend to be an adaptive platform. It pretends to be a simple access to the Internet. Thus it is the natural navigator for individuals who just use Internet as an access to information.

The more participative the design of the navigators, the more flexible they can work. The more flexible they are, the higher the level of the “persons” to deal with them.

Mozilla is an example that can only be benchmarked if it is experienced in real use, as well as its comparison with the Internet Explorer Concept.

This benchmark will help you design adaptive systems. The Unicist Standard allows developing flexible designs with quality assurance.

We recommend listening to John Lilly’s lecture, CEO of Mozilla.  You will access the core fundamental of Mozilla’s success.

Aesthetics is the core of Steve Jobs' business approach

Apple’s success is based on the capacity of perceiving the latent needs of the market and delivering original innovative solutions.

We hope you made the effort to learn from Steve Jobs about Apple’s fundamentals as we proposed.

If you still haven’t done the “homework” we recommend watching the video before following the reading of the answer to the questions posted:

http://unicist.net/it/learning-from-steve-jobs-apple%E2%80%99s-fundamentals/

We consider that the core fundamental of Apple is aesthetics. But aesthetics is not beauty. It goes beyond.

Apple products are aesthetic because they complete the needs of their prospect clients, they are desirable and harmonic.

They also include inaccessible aspects that basically deal with innovative technology.

It can be said that the integration of an innovative technology with the fulfillment of latent needs are the core fundamentals that drive Apple’s business.

Steve Jobs is a doer himself

“Doers make things happen. Therefore, more than ever before, it is time for doers in the world.”

Doers are very special individuals. They are basically individuals whose fulfillment is based on doing transcendent things. They need to achieve what they have decided to do. When things cannot be done the easy way, they find the necessary path to make things happen.

“The world is built by doers and enjoyed by followers”. The joy of doers is in the deed itself.

We hope this has been useful.

Beware of business stagnations or downgrades

In stagnated or involving business the organization is driven by its strengths considering the implicit weaknesses as a limit for their actions.

This is functional to businesses working in markets that are stagnated. But a business that works within the limits of their weaknesses enters automatically in an involution cycle if the market evolves.

Involving businesses use to compensate their weaknesses with a dominant role. Stagnated businesses fight against involution exerting power to convince the market and the internal organization that they are following or leading a trend.

Peter Belohlavek’s lecture on Institutionalization

The lecture on institutionalization will be opening a new way to think and design businesses based on their nature using the unicist standard.

We are sure that institutionalization is the new model that will rule the macro and micro economy in the next decades. In the Research on Institutionalization three ways of economic institutionalization have been found:

1) Economic institutionalization as an entropy inhibitor
2) Economic institutionalization as a catalyst
3) Economic institutionalization as a system to control the economy or activity

The crisis 2008 gave an opportunity to use institutionalization as a catalyst for growth. Now it became clear that institutionalization works both as a catalyst and as an entropy inhibitor.

In the private area the first use of institutionalization as a tool to produce or catalyze growth took place in 1981 using a Corporate University activity to introduce transcendent goals in a financial business. It was extremely successful both in terms of measured qualitative and quantitative results.

The first use of institutionalization in the public sector was the development of a political strategy and its implementation in 1987. It was also the final test of the application of the unicist theory of social evolution.

New – Reading the Nature of Reality – by Diana Belohlavek

To translate this post, click on the title to open it and then click on your flag in the right menu.

As you know the time we spent together was professionally very successful. The global crisis worked as a market opener for our technologies.
1) There were over 500 new research projects finished.
2) We opened 11 users’ blogs in different specialties.
3) We included two new languages (French and German), and have launched the scientific dissemination developing 5 blogs in English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.
4) We are in the testing period of the Unicist Business Research Engine that will be inaugurated on November 3, 2009.
5) The Goodwill Network launched three Open Universities in Cybernetics, Health and Finances.
Time for commercial expansion has come. As we are talking of business, we strongly recommend considering the Factor “ZERO”, which is the main business killer. You will find it: at:

A new version of this e-book is now available. It has been upgraded in order to include the complete set of fundamentals that sustain unicist conceptual design to build “Business-objects” based on the nature of each business.

The emulation of nature is basic in the unicist object driven approach. That is why the Unicist Object Design Language (UODL) must be managed by all the partners that deal with Diagnoses. It is convenient for those related with the development of in-company clinics on their specialties. The UODL is based on a graphical logical interface to build objects.

The Unicist Business Modeling Language (UBML) is the language that has to be managed to enter the world of business strategy, market-labs and org-labs. It is required in order to have the necessary tool to define the conceptual design of businesses and business-objects respecting their nature.
