Facileness, the driver of Business Failures

The Unicist Research Institute researched 50 cases of startups in the US to define which were the root causes of their failures and how they could have been avoided. What was demonstrated is that the fundamentals of the business were mismanaged in all failures. Avoiding fundamentals is a core characteristic of facileness.

Polarities of the Unicist Evolutionary Approach

In all the cases, facileness, defined as the attitude of oversimplifying reality to minimize the energy consumed, demonstrated being the root cause of failures.

Facileness is an addiction that is installed in over-adaptive environments, which drives their stagnation and/or involution. This behavior is driven by the submission to the extreme beliefs of the participants of the group, their business is based on transferring risks and costs to others and is sustained by the avoidance of conflicts.

Facileness is necessarily short-term oriented and cannot deal with structural approaches, institutionalization, the root causes of problems or strategic approaches to businesses.

Proposing utopias, making shortcuts, subjectifying, “buying time”, lying and denying facts are typical actions in facileness driven businesses.

Facileness, as an addiction, is fully unconscious and develops the necessary defenses to maintain the status quo while following the extreme beliefs of the businessmen/women.

As an addiction, it creates a parallel reality in the world, where only those who share this addiction can participate as leaders. Evolutionary approaches cannot be accepted in facileness driven businesses because they work as mirrors exposing the real world.

Unicist Evolutionary Approach

The paradox is that the unicist evolutionary approach is the framework that ensures business success. This approach is integrated by:

  1. The use of maximal and minimum strategies,
  2. the management of the unified field of processes,
  3. the use of business objects,
  4. the conceptual design of solutions,
  5. the development of pilot tests to ensure results,

Minimizing facileness is a basic condition for business development and requires that the leaders of the business have an adaptive attitude, which means that they feel they can influence the environment while they are influenced by it.  It requires that reality prevails over beliefs. Facileness is for leisure, not for business.

The 4th Industrial Revolution requires a Conceptual Mindset

Industrial Revolutions foster and establish dominant mindsets to fulfill their purposes. A conceptual mindset is necessary to deal with the possibilities opened by the 4th Industrial Revolution in order to manage the unified field of business processes.

Mindsets of Industrial RevolutionsThe discovery that the concepts people have in their minds, drive their actions and that the concepts and fundamentals that underlie business functions define the root causes of their functionality, expanded the possibilities of business management.

Therefore, conceptualization is the necessary mindset to deal with the 4th Industrial Revolution. It allows managing the unified field of business functions integrating the different aspects of the business processes including the restricted and wide contexts.

This stage requires managing the concepts of business functions to improve the adaptiveness of processes by being fully consumer/user/buyer oriented, increasing the productivity and increasing the quality to become fully reliable.

The conceptual mindset required by the 4th Industrial Revolution uses destructive and non-destructive pilot tests and uses an action-reflection-action process that includes the use of the unicist strategic approach to forecast, produce and ensure results.

The solutions are based on the ontogenetic maps of business functions that define their concepts and fundamentals. This information allows defining what is needed and comparing it with the actual state to define the actions that are necessary to achieve the established goals. The pilot tests of their implementation allow learning from the feedback.

Speed defines success in the business world

Speed is the basic condition for the success of artists, professionals or companies. The technological development, among other factors, made speed a central issue in business.

Power, considered from the Physics point of view and regarded as a universal concept, is defined by the quantity of work that is done in a unit of time.

P = Work/Time

If we take a look at the most successful artists, they are the ones that can produce their “work” (art) in a quantity of events that make them fast in relation to the market possibilities.

If we analyze the alliances that are made in the business world, they all include a search for speed beyond their possible complementation or supplementation of their products or services.

In business, speed depends mainly on the knowledge one has of what is being done. The one who better knows what s/he is doing is faster than the rest. And this standard of speed is given by the market, not by the individual.

In this sense, it’s important to bear in mind that the “survivors” in the business world need to stop or slow down the speed, since they do what they can instead of what is needed.

On the other hand, the central actors of a market search for an increase in speed to be ahead of their competitors and see first in the market what others have not yet seen. Speed depends on an attitude.

Psychopaths drive their environments towards involution

Psychopaths in leadership drive cultures, institutions, businesses and their members towards involution in order to prevail.

At an ontological level, a psychopath is a person that is driven by individual instincts achieving a destructive result for the environment to produce a state of pleasure based on materialistic, emotional and/or spiritual personal benefits.

Psychopathic leaders are smart enough to build the necessary fallacies and fallacious myths in order to avoid the perception or their manipulation and benefits.

They stimulate the involution of the cultures for their personal benefits. They cannot lead evolving cultures or transform involving into evolving environments.

As psychopathy is driven by instincts without the possibility of rational scrutiny, the pleasure it generates produces no guilt in spite of the damage the psychopath has caused in the environment.

Psychopathy is also the extreme case of anti-intelligence and anti-intuition because this behavior drives, in the long run, into a social destruction of its protagonist.

The instincts that drive psychopaths depend on their field of action. This case is the activity of psychopaths in the field of leadership.

Conceptual Management – A Logical Approach to Businesses

The conceptual approach to business requires that people need to know “why” something is happening. This is unnecessary at an operational level, but is a basic question when dealing with strategic approaches. The “know why” is driven by a logical approach to businesses that allows managing their concepts making them reasonable, understandable and provable.

Unicist Ontology of Conceptual ThinkingWhen the boundaries of a business are being expanded, individuals need to apprehend the concept that is behind its operational aspects in order to influence a new environment. This implies apprehending the ontology (nature) of its concept and its dynamics.

On the one hand, the conceptual approach to business became possible based on the discovery of the structure of concepts, defined by a purpose, an active and entropic function and an energy conservation function, which allowed apprehending the nature of facts and actions (unicist ontology).*

On the other hand, the discovery that the concepts people have in mind work as behavioral objects that drive their behavior made this conceptual approach necessary to deal with strategic approaches.

The Origin of Conceptual Thinking

The endless “Why?” question posed by children (nearby 3 years old) is what allows establishing the neural network needed by a person to apprehend and manage concepts. This process starts when children begin to look for the origin of those things they are interested in.

This endless “why” questioning has three main benefits:

  1. It sustains the development of the neural network that allows dealing with the origin of things and not only with the operational aspects.
  2. It expands the language of the child driving her/him to deal with an implicit integrative, fuzzy and predicate logic.
  3. It provides the “why” that allows children to approach their games, which develop their systemic thinking approach.

Conceptual diagnoses, conceptual design and conceptual management became possible using the unicist logical approach, which made “concepts” tangible and provided the structural functional approach to develop business diagnoses, strategies and architecture.

The solitude for actions, for change and power

Solitude has different functionalities depending on the situation of a context. The leader’s final price to be paid is having an absolute solitude of power.

Leaders can share, listen, discuss or participate in any way but, at the end, those who have full responsibility for results, are alone. They have to make a decision that has to work.

The elements that integrate the maximal strategy when dealing with the solitude of power are:

  1. The need of self-fulfillment of the leaders which allows them to apprehend the final picture of the achievements.
  2. The capacity of dealing in an adapted way with the environment making them be perceived as influential individuals.
  3. The self-criticism which is defined by their capacity of doing things “today better than yesterday”.

These elements allow leaders to face the solitude for actions.

Social Networks as Adaptive Collaborative Contexts

A virtual collaborative context fosters the development of pastime and professional activities. This is the case of Social Networks which, depending on the segment they belong to, establish the context for commercial actions.

Social NetworksSocial Networks are paradigmatic environments of the Era of Participation. They are used by people in order to demonstrate themselves and to others that they are part of the world.

The feasibility of their use as a medium for network marketing depends on the capacity of generating an asymmetric complementation with the members, fans and followers of a social network.

The use of a social network as a medium requires understanding its structural segmentation and building a compatible network strategy.

In order to work in a collaborative context, the complementation of these roles is fully necessary. The existence of a full reliability of the members and the ideological link among them are basic to produce results.

If the reliability of actions is inexistent, the process of the group is inhibited. If there is no ideological link among the members, there is an extreme waste of energy that endangers the process.

Complexity Science: Tweetinar on Unicist Diagnostics

Etymologically, diagnosis means discerning, distinguishing. The everyday use of the word also implies seeking for the causes of a problem.

From a conceptual point of view, diagnoses are made to forecast and to exert influence on a reality. The level of the groundings upon which diagnoses are based defines its level of accuracy.

Diagnoses necessarily include intuitive aspects when approaching new situations. The difference between diagnoses does not lie in the intuitive approach, but in the processing of the information that intuition offers.

We have identified five levels of diagnoses:

1)      Intuitive-analogical
2)      Descriptive
3)      Static
4)      Causal
5)      Functional

Intuitive-analogical diagnosis

The intuitive diagnosis approaches reality from the subjective perceptions of an individual. It does not use groundings to validate intuition, just intuitive analogies.

Descriptive diagnosis

The outcome of this diagnosis is a description of the visible physical aspects of a reality. This diagnosis can help to solve simple problems.

The static diagnosis

This diagnosis is based on the analysis of a reality. It is called static because in order to analyze something, we need to consider it as a fixed situation in time and circumstances. This diagnosis helps solving simple problems in areas which involve formal or rational components.

The causal diagnosis

The causal diagnosis is a systemic approach to reality. It is a systemic diagnosis that analyzes the functional

ity of a given reality. It sustains the solution of complex problems with low ambiguity levels.

The functional diagnosis

This diagnosis is based on the understanding of the functional concepts that underlay a given reality. The functional diagnosis is necessary for the solution of highly complex problems with ambiguous components.

The secure diagnosis

A diagnosis is “secure” when it includes all levels of analysis. Secure knowledge has been achieved when this condition has been fulfilled. Secure knowledge requires a high investment of energy. Therefore people often prefer to use reliable but not secure diagnoses, and control the evolution of a given reality in order to validate the accuracy of such diagnoses.

The questions that will be answered during the Unicist Tweetinar are:

  1. What are business diagnoses for?
  2. What are intuitive diagnoses for?
  3. What are functional diagnostics based on?
  4. What is mathematical validation of diagnoses for?
  5. What are conceptual validation model for?
  6. What is the 5 why methodology for?
  7. Which are the 5 why that need to be answered?

Complexity Sciences: Tweetinar on Object Driven Marketing

In a wide sense, it can be said that the more object-driven a relationship between a prospect and a product is, the easier the individual can buy a product. If we consider the buying taxonomy (AIDA), we will see that there are three different approaches to buy: the rational, the ethical and the impulsive approach.

The more ethical the buying process is, the less legitimate the influence on buyers. The more massive the buying process, the less it is influenced by rationality.

The questions that will be answered during the Unicist Tweetinar are:

  1. For what type of products or services has the unicist object driven marketing process been designed?
  2. Why is marketing a complex problem?
  3. Are there individuals involved in the object driven marketing process?
  4. Why is it necessary to begin with a personal communication and close with a personal closing process?
  5. Are brochure objects or communications? What is the difference between communication and marketing objects?
  6. Which are the weaknesses of this type of marketing?
  7. What conditions needs to be given to use this type of marketing?
