Unicist First Principles

Using foundations to empower conscious adaptive decisions

The objective of the Unicist 5 Why Method is to install an approach to foster conscious decision in adaptive environments. It uses the development of foundations to foster conscious adaptive decisions.

Pyramid Five WhyIt is based on “positive thinking” that implies solution thinking and using the conjunction “and” to integrate the different aspects that allow emulating the concept of what is being done while apprehending its double dialectical logic.

This method is a step by step process that empowers the capacity of focusing on solutions and catalyzes the evolution of the ethical intelligence. Depending on the individual, this process might demand months or years.

But the unique cost is investing a couple of minutes defining the foundations of a decision. The benefits depend on the discipline of making the exercises.

The 5 Why Method describes the foundations (Why) of actions. It does not deal with their justifications (What for).

The method is based on answering 5 questions on the groundings of the decisions:

1)      Why does it work?
2)      Why is the solution functional?
3)      Why will the results be produced?
4)      Why will it be adaptive?
5)      Why will it work considering the context?

This method fosters the freedom of individuals. That is why it is self-administrated and cannot include coaching or support. The exchange with colleagues is what allows having support without including authoritative roles.

Personal freedom requires dealing with Problematic Learning

Thematic approach vs. Problematic approach

Teaching vs LearningThe teaching approach, based on previous theoretical knowledge, necessarily leads to actions where the thematic approach precedes the problematic application.

This approach is functional to simple problems solutions.

When we are fostering talent empowerment, solving problems with complex components, the thematic approach is less functional than the approach “problem – theme – problem”.

“Focus” is vital for complex problems solutions. Learning fosters focusing on problems. The process begins and ends working with a problem and measuring the results.

The Unicist Logical Foundations of Jean Piaget’s Theory

Adaptation, accommodation and assimilation were terms used by Jean Piaget to define the learning process. It has been sustained that the adaptation process, which is the final goal of human intelligence, follows two complementary processes: accommodation and assimilation.

The unicist approach has been using these concepts since the eighties considering them as a neural entity individuals have to approach learning processes. Therefore they have, as any entity, a purpose, and active function and an energy conservation function.

The purpose of this entity is to adapt to the environment, because this is the purpose of any healthy human being.

The active function is given by the accommodation process, that is the process in which the mind has to accommodate itself to the evidence with which it is being confronted.

This process is extremely energy consuming because it demands moving internal structures to find a way to adapt to the external environment. The accommodation process is supplementary to the adaptation process meaning that it is redundant but having a superior solution to adapt to the environment.

The changes proposed by the accommodation process are limited by the assimilation process. The assimilation process is the energy conservation function that allows adapting to the environment. The assimilation process consists in the integration of the external environment in the mind without changing the concepts the individual has.

Assimilation and adaptation are complementary which means that the assimilation provides the information that is needed to adapt to the environment.

Adaptation, accommodation and assimilation define the essential structure of a learning process which is nonexistent if individuals cannot adapt to the environment because they need to over-adapt to it. Over-adaptation implies a submissive, dominant or oppositional attitude towards the environment.

Conclusion

There exists no complementation between the accommodation and the assimilation processes. They are integrated by the adaptation process. That is why when adaption does not exist there is no possibility that an individual learns.

In life do you focus on finding answers or questions?

Focusing on answers is adequate to deal within the boundaries you manage. But if you want to expand your activities and grow you need to find the questions that are needed.

No one will teach you how to do this, there are no recipes. You need to learn it.

But “Teaching vs. Learning” is a fallacious option. While teaching provides a secure environment for individuals, learning, on the other hand, is based on the internal freedom of individuals.

The model “theory – practice” is the natural model for teaching. The unicist path “action-thought / reflection – action” is the natural approach to learning.

The teaching approach, based on previous theoretical knowledge, necessarily leads to actions where the thematic approach precedes the problematic application.

This approach is functional to simple problems solutions.

“Focus” is vital for complex problems solutions. Learning fosters focusing on problems. The process begins and ends working with a problem and measuring the results.

If you are interested in thematic learning you need to find the answers a specific approach provides. If you are trying to solve problems you need to find the questions that drive you towards the solution.

Unicist Innovations in Human Resources

The innovation of the unicist approach introduced the possibility of understanding human nature. It allowed defining that the long term memory works based on cognitive objects and that these objects, named concepts, determine the attitudes of people.

On the other hand, the discovery of ethical intelligence allowed discovering where the intentions of individuals come from and how they work. The following description will give the basics of the innovation.

The activities of the Unicist Confederation are expanding based on the introduction of the unicist ontology and business objects driven technologies.

The Object Driven Organization of the adaptive aspects of businesses is the technology included in all the “solutions” for business optimization.

The Confederation itself also uses business objects for its growth. These objects ensure the critical mass of the solutions it provides to the market. Business solutions require the use of driving, catalyzing and gravitational business objects.

1) The business objects are the drivers of the activity providing the solutions that generate significant energy savings and optimization of results to their users.

2) The unicist approach, including diagnoses, strategies and architectures of the solutions is the catalyst of the Confederation’s proposals.

3) The emulation of nature in business is the gravitational object that sustains the activities of the Confederation.

This approach segments the market. Basically, it can be said that the object driven approach is necessary for business expansion and convenient for business administration.

35th Anniversary of The Unicist Research Institute

June 1976 was the beginning of the research of evolution in the field of complexity science. It was focused on approaching the nature of reality which required an ontological approach to the basic research and an object driven approach in the field of application.

The research drove to the discovery of the ontogenetic intelligence of nature, the unicist ontology, the unicist logic, the complexity science research methodology and the human ontointelligence.

This provided the basic knowledge to develop more than 3,500 applicative researches in the field of individual, institutional and social evolution that were finished until September 2010. The research work is still ongoing.

We would like to share with you this celebration giving you access to the book on:

Unicist Ethics: The Ethics of Doers

We consider it will allow you to expand your boundaries in work and businesses.

You can access the book at: http://www.unicist.org/deb_doers.php

This anniversary is a very special one, because it follows a turning point in our global expansion that took place during the last year.

The unicist algorithm to foster the development of talents

Personal talents evolve when they are driven by internal and external conditions. Individuals evolve when there is a real need to increase the value they add to the environment and they have an internal need to improve and the will to learn.

These conditions can be fostered but not invented. The individual has to have the internal need to improve in order to respond to an objective need to add more value

Those who are in a comfort zone cannot develop. Personal development only occurs when individuals need to grow. Improving and learning is a decision that needs to be based on freewill, but it needs to be based on assuming the responsibility of improving something.

Learning is the energy conservation function of a learning context. Learning implies being driven by the need to solve a problem and making the effort to understand and comprehend how to make it happen.

A learning context has been developed when the three before mentioned elements are integrated generating an empty space an individual is able to fill.

Lecture on Ethical Intelligence for Personal Development

We invite you to organize a lecture on Ethical Intelligence in Business led by Diana Belohlavek. It will change the view of efficacy in leadership.

The discovery of ethical intelligence made by Peter Belohlavek at The Unicist Research Institute opened new possibilities to influence individuals’ evolution.

Ethical intelligence in business defines the value adding possibilities, the influence on the environment, time management, strategic planning and focusing.

A business is consistent when the individuals dealing with it have the ethics required by the activity.

When the ethics is inferior to what is needed, it necessarily inhibits growth installing a “business growth virus” in the organization.

If the ethics used by individuals is superior to what is needed, they install a “business profit virus” in the organization that increases costs and affects profitability.

The lecture can be live or virtual. In both cases it includes debates. To minimize the cost the virtual lecture is recommended.

Unicist Learning: Why adults inhibit their own learning?

Childhood lives within a complex world. From birth on, children enter a world where reality exceeds their reasoning capacity and they need to learn in order to survive and grow.

The way they do so is very simple:
a) They act
b) They somehow elaborate their actions
c) They act again based on their elaborations

This is the natural taxonomy to manage complex problems. Children follow these steps intuitively. Taxonomies are naturally respected by children. If you put skis on small children they just begin with “snow plowing” and not “slaloming”.

What happens with this intuitive way in grown up adults?

Educated adults do not enter a new complex problem based on experiencing it first. Societies, parents and the educational system taught them to approach reality beginning with a rational thinking process. This is functional to everyday operational activities, but is dysfunctional to learning how to manage unknown complex problems.
A complex problem must be approached with an “action – reflection – action” process, which is absolutely counterintuitive for ordinary adults.

Access a Unicist Clip:

Why is “action-reflection-action” counterintuitive?

In the adaptation process humans have to face four natural fears that inhibit intuition:

1) The fear of ridicule: A persistent, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of being ridiculed or ridicule. It is the fear that hinders the beginning of any different or new activity.
2) The fear of failure: Fear of failure is the fear of self-criticism or the fear of being criticized by others. It is the fear of failure that hurts far more than the failure itself. Actually, it is the fear of not being sure what will happen.
3) The fear or rejection: It is an outcome of low self-esteem. It makes you feel that everyone in this world is superior to you and they can reject and avoid you for some reason or other.
4) The fear of success: The fear of success is a very unique issue that arises when you are genuinely creating change and moving forward. One of the core fears that arise from change is that success will lead to loneliness.

These fears define the natural taxonomy of fear managing in human adaptive behavior.
Complex problem solving requires an action-reflection-action process. This implies the involvement in the problem as a participant. Without this involvement there is no possibility to apprehend the ontological structure of the complex problem.
