The breakthrough of Unicist Change Management

The Unicist Standard presented by Peter Belohlavek provides the necessary taxonomic steps and objects to be able to develop object driven continuous improvement which minimizes the need for change and thus the change resistance. Continuous Improvement is necessarily integrated with Innovation and Change Management.

35th Anniversary of The Unicist Research Institute

June 1976 was the beginning of the research of evolution in the field of complexity science. It was focused on approaching the nature of reality which required an ontological approach to the basic research and an object driven approach in the field of application.

The research drove to the discovery of the ontogenetic intelligence of nature, the unicist ontology, the unicist logic, the complexity science research methodology and the human ontointelligence.

This provided the basic knowledge to develop more than 3,500 applicative researches in the field of individual, institutional and social evolution that were finished until September 2010. The research work is still ongoing.

We would like to share with you this celebration giving you access to the book on:

Unicist Ethics: The Ethics of Doers

We consider it will allow you to expand your boundaries in work and businesses.

You can access the book at: http://www.unicist.org/deb_doers.php

This anniversary is a very special one, because it follows a turning point in our global expansion that took place during the last year.

Unicist Tweetinar on Unicist Business Objects Building

The Unicist Standard for business objects building defines the norms that business objects have to fulfill to generate results.

Extreme design, the use of unicist modeling and the structure of the ontology of objects allow building unicist business objects.

Unicist business objects (UBO) are encapsulated adaptive systems that produce predefined results that can be inserted in work processes to increase productivity and quality and to save energy.

Classification of objects based on their use

Drivers: they are objects that produce results within work processes.

Catalysts: they are objects that are designed to accelerate drivers, tasks or processes.

Entropy inhibitors: Their role is to minimize the entropy of processes and results.

Inhibitors: They are objects to inhibit anti-conceptual actions in processes.

Gravitational objects: They are objects that generate an influential context that promotes the need of the results provided by tasks, objects or processes.

Objects do not substitute people’s responsibility, they provide a safer, faster and energy saving solution to be installed in work processes.

That is why objects can only be installed in organizations where the leaders assumed the responsibility for the results produced by the processes they manage.

Building Corporate Universities as Unicist Business Objects

In-company Corporate Universities are an extremely powerful business object to promote growth and measurable monetary results.

Originally, they were derived from academic and training activities providing know-how to the members of organizations. But some differentiated technological companies began to use them also to expand their businesses. Thus Corporate Universities began to work as business objects.

The Unicist Research Institute developed Corporate Universities as business objects, integrating the three objects that define their functionality:
1)    The driving object for know-how transfer
2)    The catalyzing object to accelerate actions in the market
3)    The gravitational object to structure authoritative differentiation in the market

The driving object needs to be developed in operational/analytical language in order to deal with the business operation.

The catalyzing object needs to be developed in analytical/scientific language in order to deal with the innovative technology that is behind the operation.

The gravitational object needs to be developed in conceptual language in order to deal with the nature that underlies a business.

The lack of know-how defines the need for the driving function. This function becomes unnecessary as soon as the know-how has been acquired.

It has to be considered that innovation sustains the use of social catalysts and catalyzing objects. The catalyzing effect disappears when an innovation has been adopted by the environment. Therefore, catalysts need to be replaced when they are “worn out”.

Gravitational objects are stable because the essential aspects of businesses imply an endless discovering process.

Power and knowledge have an extremely conflictive relationship. That is why Corporate Universities are contraindicated for power centered businesses.

We want to remark that In-Company Corporate Universities designed as Business Objects have to be learning and not teaching centered.

(Based on the research on In-company Corporate Universities)

Healthcare businesses have to be adaptive as never before

Businesses are, by definition, adaptive systems that need to evolve in an adapted way in an environment. Therefore, knowledge is essential to manage businesses.

Ontology-of-the-knowledge-of-adaptive-systemsKnowledge implies having the necessary information to make decisions and implement them in order to generate a business.

Reliable knowledge can be achieved when the fundamental knowledge and the technical analytical knowledge have been acquired.

Fundamental analysis is the approach that defines the limits of the possibilities of the evolution of a given reality. Fundamentals define the boundaries implicit in the functionality of such reality.

Technical analysis deals with the cause-effect relation between “variables” that have been identified making a systemic compromise.

The discovery of the Unicist Ontology of Evolution and the structure of concepts that regulate the evolution of living beings and their deeds, established the structure for fundamental analysis integrating it with technical analysis in order to develop reliable knowledge to adapt in a smooth way to reality.

Ontological approach to Electronic Health Records

The approach to EMR/EHR needs to include both administrative and adaptive aspects in order to work as a driver for patient oriented healthcare.

We strongly recommend accessing the paper on the adaptive aspects of EHR prepared by Lowell Vizenor, Barry Smith and Werner Ceusters representing:

1. Institute of Formal Ontology and Information Science, University of Saarbrücken, Germany
2. University at Buffalo, Department of Philosophy, Buffalo, New York, USA
3. European Institute for Ontological Research, Saarbrücken, Germany

“Despite the recent advances in information and communication technology that have increased our ability to store and circulate information, the task remains of ensuring that the right sorts of information reach the right sorts of people.

In what follows we defend the thesis that efforts to develop efficient means for sharing information across healthcare systems and organizations would benefit from a careful analysis of human action in healthcare organizations, and that the communication of healthcare information and knowledge needs to rest on a sound ontology of social interaction.

We illustrate this thesis in relation to the HL7 RIM, which is one centrally important tool for communication in the healthcare domain.”

Business Growth: How business miracles work

Human miracles occur when an extraordinary achievement has been accomplished by a man or a woman.

Business MiraclesA miracle can be defined as: an unexpected event manifesting a supernatural act of a divine agent.

Business miracles are in fact unexpected turning points in a business producing extremely desired and necessary results.

While developing solutions in Unicist Market Labs we have witnessed several business miracles. All these miracles have the same fundamental structure:

1) There is a “crowd” (group) with extreme needs.
2)
There is a spontaneous massive behavior of the crowd (group). They behave as a mass of believers in something or someone.
3)
The solution is implicit in the crowd’s behavior.
4)
There is a leader who is able to discover the solution in the crowd’s behavior and make it happen.

The leaders  appear as magical, but in fact their magic is their extreme ethical behavior that allows them understanding the needs, read the solution and make it happen.

Individualism, rationalism and human complexes are the main inhibitors of business miracles.

An example of a business miracle is Apple after the return of Steve Jobs in 1997.

Performance Management: The Sensory System of Businesses

Making an analogy between the sensory nervous system and performance management will help to apprehend the concept of performance management.

The sensory nervous system is what provides the energy conservation of living beings.

The sensory system seeks to ensure the survival of a living being limiting the actions so the being can survive.

Performance management is the sensory system that provides the energy conservation of businesses ensuring that the objectives can be achieved.

It has to deal with the systemic functions of a business and with the adaptive functions.

Businesses are built to provide materialistic welfare

Work is a basic condition in business. Work in business implies using force to produce a displacement that generates value. This is the economic power of businesses.

The Unicist Ontology of Human ResponabilityIt has to be considered that the economic power is basically individualistic oriented.

In the materialistic world the same “thing” cannot be shared.

Money is in my pocket or it is in your pocket. It cannot be in both places at the same time.

That is why the nature of the materialistic world is the dualism which naturally drives towards fostering activities based on individual initiatives.

Materialistic activities are naturally driven by individual responsibility.

This means that the institutions that develop materialistic activities need to understand and manage the individual needs of their members in order to be successful.

The Unicist Standard for Negotiation Strategies

There are three roles in business relations: people buy, sell or negotiate. The role of a negotiator is the most complex one because it is immersed in the management of conflicts.

The Unicist Negotiation Strategy implies dealing with the nature of negotiation processes using the unicist algorithm to define the different steps to be followed when negotiating.

It requires having made the necessary intelligence work to have the information to understand the counterparts and accepting that a confrontation is unavoidable when a negotiation fails.

It allows saving a lot of energy and time when developing negotiations.
