Unicist Contingency Rooms

Unicist Contingency Rooms are organizational units that transform urgent problems into structural solutions. These units are basically organized as teams led by a person who is responsible for the Contingency Room.

Unicist Contingency RoomsWhen they begin their teamwork, the leadership includes the participation of a coordinator, who assumes the responsibility for doing what is needed to find the solutions for the problem that needs to be solved, an ombudsman to represent the needs of the client and a fallacy shooter who ensures that the group manages valid knowledge.

Their final purpose is to solve an urgent problem. Their maximal strategy is to develop the structural solutions while the minimum strategy is to solve the urgent problems.

The double dialectical actions that need to be developed at a contingency room begin by finding the necessary causes of problems in order to develop a structural solution while the second step is to find the triggering causes that generated the urgent problems in order to solve them.

It has to be considered that when a structural solution is found, the problem ceases to exist. Therefore, contingency rooms generate significant added value in their organizations because they ensure the concept of “today better than yesterday” measured in terms of results.

These contingency rooms use a complete set of resources to manage these solutions:

  • Unicist Change Management & Continuous ImprovementConceptual Design Technology – To build the unified fields of the solutions and the layout of their architecture.
  • Continuous Improvement – Which includes the possibility of installing innovations to upgrade or renew processes.
  • Quality Assurance – Which requires introducing automated decisions to ensure the effectiveness of the processes.
  • Problem Solving & Diagnostics Methods – To provide a framework that simplifies the building of structural solutions.
  • Unicist Fishbone – To transform the conceptual design of a process into a manageable improvement process.
  • Unicist Project Manager – To design solutions for complex structural problems.
  • Unicist Library – To have a Knowledge Bank with the information of the concepts of business functions.
  • Avant Garde Groups – To build participative solutions for work processes using the knowledge and experience of the members of an organization.
  • Business Objects building Method – To build the necessary business objects to be inserted in the processes and integrated with roles and the necessary technologies in order to drive, catalyze or inhibit the entropy of processes.

Unicist contingency rooms are a tool for organizational learning and improvement. The organizations that use this approach transform crises into opportunities and problems into solutions.

This requires having an internal “Corporate University”, working as a solution factory, that provides the conceptual framework and the knowledge base for these activities together with the quality assurance for the solutions.

The main problem of contingency rooms is that they require using all the knowledge that is necessary and the main benefit is that it produces monetary results in the short and long run.

Transforming EMR into Adaptive Patient Centered Systems

Medical efficacy implies that physicians need to work within the complexity of human biology. They work in the field of adaptive systems. This implies that their efficacy curve has to be functional to deal with low programmed activities. Protocols sustain this essentially low programmed activity.

healthcare-cyberneticsParadoxically, there is a widespread perception that EMR/EHR has a low added value for medical practice. This perception hinders the upgrade of medical practice.

But:

1)  Is it that EMR and EHR have little added value or is it that they were designed as administrative systems?
2)  Is it possible to transform administrative EMR and EHR into adaptive systems with administrative information?
3)  How can the misuse of the transparency of the system be avoided?

These are some of the questions that can be solved using an object driven approach to healthcare.

The objects included in the EMR and EHR should emulate the problems physicians need to solve in their minds in medical practice. The basic objects are:

  • Diagnoses
  • Cures
  • Palliatives
  • Patients evolution
  • Prevention
  • Decision making
  • Knowledge bank

Objects driven EMR or EHR are such when they become a necessary part for physicians practice such as a golf stick is for the golfer or a racket is for a tennis player.

There have to be objects for exclusive private use with no access to anyone, such as the decision making alternatives a physician considers, and other objects that can be shared.

Administrative EMR or EHR can only be information reservoirs, legal defendants and control systems. The integration of object driven systems including adaptive objects with administrative functions is the conceptual answer to the problem. Basically, a new concept for interfaces is required.

Changing the interfaces is the first step to enter in the new stage where the computer is a natural part of the physician’s practice.

Clinical trial paradigms are changing

A couple of years ago Wyeth introduced a new R&D protocol in drug development. It was named “Learn & Confirm” and relies most heavily on biomarkers and pharmacogenomic approaches.

As part of Learn and Confirm, Wyeth drug-development teams were encouraged to examine each compound coming through the pipeline for ways that the company can employ a biomarker-based or pharmacogenomic approach that can help move it downstream.

This R&D Methodology was based on the research developed by Lewis B. Sheiner synthesized in the paper  “Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics”

This methodology is naturally consistent with the unicist complexity research methodology.  Therefore we working with CROs to expand this technology using the unicist healthcare cybernetic approach synthesized in the Unicist Cyberstation.

Logical Management Tools: Unicist Reflection for Problem Solving

reflectionUnicist reflection is an approach to complex human adaptive systems to understand their nature, define the possibilities to influence them, apprehend the algorithms that allow exerting influence and generate added value.

Unicist reflection has no relationship with other introspective approaches like religious introspection, transcendent meditation, yoga or other technologies that have been developed for different purposes.

Unicist Reflection has been developed to deal with complex human adaptive systems, such as businesses, to develop scenarios, diagnoses and strategies to achieve possible results.

Reflection covers five stages before reaching the environment adaptation and the influence upon it.

1) It reflects outside
Projecting the prejudices we have onto reality.
2) It reflects inside
Introjecting the reality elements we try to exert some influence upon.
3) The outside vanishes
Focusing on the reality we try to exert some influence upon.
4) The inside vanishes
Making the specific reality universal.
5) All is one

The “reflecting outside” stage deals with the projection of our own preconceptions and implies comparing them with the reality facts or with other people’s preconceptions.

Reality is introjected to be able to influence the environment. The aim is to develop a strategy which allows influencing while being influenced.

Once we are in peace with the environment we start to focus on the influence we try to exert.

When we have developed a diagnosis, it has a universal implicit character. This means that it responds to universal elements. This allows transferring the knowledge to other homologous fields and originates the conceptual “benchmarking”.

When this level is reached, we will comprehend the universality of concepts.

The Unicist Reflection process can be synthesized in the following steps:

0 – Focus on the solution
1 – Dealing with projections
– Destructive pilot tests
2 – Dealing with Introjections
– Non-destructive – Destructive pilot tests
3 – Dealing with integration
– Non-destructive pilot tests
4 – Dealing with communion
– Results validation
5 – Dealing with the unified field

A Unicist Reflection process implies leaving behind the labyrinth of one’s opinions and operational shortcuts. It requires knowledge, courage and humbleness.

Unicist Logical Approach: Diagnoses managed as medical objects

Medical objects are encapsulated adaptive processes that have the necessary quality assurance to generate a predefined result.

Diagnostics Quality AssuranceMedical diagnoses happen within the scope of medicine but are regulated by the functional rules of universal diagnostics and are driven by the semiotic signs the diagnostician identifies.

Diagnoses can be considered from two different points of view. Seen from the diagnostician’s standpoint, they are a process that needs to be done to identify the problem that needs to be cured. But seen from the point of view of the therapeutic process, they are a medical object that defines the objective of the therapeutic process.

As a medical object, they need to have the necessary quality assurance to be fully reliable. To achieve this reliability they need to be based on reliable knowledge and develop the necessary destructive and non-destructive tests to confirm their validity.

As an object, they work as an adaptive system that modifies the diagnosis based on the feedback from the environment until the therapeutic process has shown its accuracy. The destructive tests are necessary to evaluate the limits of validity of the diagnoses while the non-destructive tests are done to confirm their functional validity.

To manage diagnoses as medical objects it is necessary that the EHR includes the possibility of managing them as adaptive systems.

Healthcare: The ontogentic algorithm of evolution

Evolution implies the existence of a taxonomy to achieve a purpose. The first step appears to be putting the purpose into action. This implies a previous taxonomic step: the understanding of the purpose.

Then the first step is putting it into action. Without understanding no action is possible.

The second step is then finding a way to optimize the energy; thus the energy conservation principle is applied.

When this taxonomy is respected and successful, individual are evolving. This implies that they add value to the environment, obtain the counterpart and learn from the environment at the same time.

Evolution implies being aware of reality and making conscious actions in order to adapt to the environment.

Unicist Innovations in Healthcare Management

The innovation of the unicist ontology based and objects driven technologies allowed introducing business objects in the management of patients. This approach allows improving the quality of medical practice integrating curative, palliative and preventive aspects.

The integration of object driven EMR, EHR and EPR is what makes this possible based on the available IT technology. The following description will give the basics of the innovation.

The activities of the Unicist Confederation are expanding based on the introduction of the unicist ontology and business objects driven technologies.

The Object Driven Organization of the adaptive aspects of businesses is the technology included in all the “solutions” for business optimization.

The Confederation itself also uses business objects for its growth. These objects ensure the critical mass of the solutions it provides to the market. Business solutions require the use of driving, catalyzing and gravitational business objects.

1) The business objects are the drivers of the activity providing the solutions that generate significant energy savings and optimization of results to their users.

2) The unicist approach, including diagnoses, strategies and architectures of the solutions is the catalyst of the Confederation’s proposals.

3) The emulation of nature in business is the gravitational object that sustains the activities of the Confederation.

This approach segments the market. Basically, it can be said that the object driven approach is necessary for business expansion and convenient for business administration.

Unicist Ethics, the driver of accurate healthcare diagnoses

Until the Unicist Approach was applied to healthcare, medical failures were considered mistakes or malapraxis.

The Unicist Approach allowed defining the necessary context and the personal attitudes that are necessary to avoid paradoxical diagnosis and maximize the accuracy of the real diagnoses.

“A paradox exists when something is self-contradictory or absurd but in reality expresses a possible truth.

Health, educational and research diagnostics are a fertile ground for planting paradoxes.

The first part of the research on paradoxical functioning explains how paradoxes behave in the field of work, human action and in the healing art.

Appearance sustains paradoxes and also leads to fallacious perceptions. Finally, it can be said that paradoxes are sustained by fallacies.

This research results are presented in a synthetic but abstract language. To explain the concept of paradoxical behavior, synthetic language is required.

Paradoxes corrode human activity. Individuals are unaware of their paradoxical behavior. Unless working with a permanent and actual feedback with reality, paradoxes are usually discovered when it is too late.

In the art of healing the antidotes for paradoxical behaviors are always the same:

  • Real interest in the patient
  • Secure knowledge
  • Hard work
  • Control – quality assurance”

The unicist approach: integrating patient orientation

The unicist approach integrated patient orientation with disease orientation which are the two polarities of medical practice.

This integration allows managing the concept of healthcare that makes the continuous improvement processes in Hospitals and Healthcare organizations possible. It made possible what was extremely complex before.

What Was Not Possible in Business Before the Unicist Approach?

 1)      The development of diagnoses beginning with the nature of a business and ending with its operation.

2)      The development of ontology based, reasonable, understandable and reliable global, country, market and business future scenarios.

3)      The design of synergic maximal and minimum strategies for business growth

4)      The building of business objects to work as drivers, catalysts and entropy inhibitors of business processes.

5)      The management of businesses as unified fields taking advantage of the possibilities while saving energy.

6)      The segmentation of markets including the hard, functional, psychological, conceptual and life-style aspects to influence buying processes.

7)      The integration of fundamental analysis and technical analysis to develop reliable knowledge.
